We covered a lot of information in this chapter, Exploring Advanced Image Compositing Techniques.
Using two very different Image Composites gave us an in-depth understanding of different ways to approach them. The first one was Lunch on Table, where we merged and arranged different photos of dishes, silverware, and tablecloths with simple-shaped objects. This made it easier to dive into making selections, retouching, and swapping backgrounds.
The second Image composite, Man Walking, demonstrated how to merge more complex objects – the Iguana, Desert Tree, Bushes, Raptures, and a Man Walking in mountain scenes. We learned how to match colors and moods from images that were taken in different regions, lighting, and weather, using color overlays and Clipping Masks to isolate individual objects, which required individual adjustment Layers. We also simulated shadows, changing Layer modes.
