Saving documents in Photopea
It’s important to save your files regularly to avoid losing information and the progress you’ve made. Photopea gives us different ways to save files in different file types, on the local hard drive, and Photopea cloud. It’s important to both understand and utilize the save features so you don’t lose your file or any recent edits you’ve made.
You can access the save features via the top-left File menu (see Figure 2.9):
- Open the File menu and you will see Save, Save (Smart Object), Save as PSD, and Save More. Just below that is an Export as option, another save feature.

- Saving a file will only save the document in the cloud (not on your local computer).
- Save (Smart Object) is used for a specific function and type of layer.
- Save as PSD will save your file to your computer with all the working layers and effects.
