AI and smart cloud

By now, there is no doubt that the main driving power behind the fourth industrial revolution is AI. Yet, while AI is at its core, the revolution did not start overnight. Right now, AI is not the only component of the fourth industrial revolution. The revolution is taking place long after AI systems were first introduced in the 1980s.

I remember that during my computer science studies in Vienna, we had the first interactions with an expert system, which was a form of AI program that simulated the knowledge and analytical skills of human experts. Yet this system was not enough to power the fourth industrial revolution.

The revolution has mostly been driven by AI following advances in computer power and memory size. This is an industrial revolution because it is spreading across every industry, mainly through the democratization of cloud services.
