What are bad actors?
Before we dive into the rest of this chapter and learn more about all the different types of cyberattacks and how virtual desktops can help, let’s first focus a bit on the people who launch those attacks.
Cyberattacks are carried out by people who are often called bad actors. This type of person in the context of a cyberattack can be an individual or group that has malicious intent. They are engaged in getting unauthorized access and disrupting and exploiting computer systems, networks, or data. Typically, their goal is to cause harm by gaining unauthorized access to sensitive information and selling it to the highest bidder, or simply to cause chaos.
