Chapter 9: Purple Team Infrastructure
We will now address the final chapter of Part 2, Building a Purple Infrastructure. We will review the infrastructure components usually necessary to perform purple teaming exercises. We will take a high-level point of view and see how everything works together, as well as determining the need for the specifics on purple teaming. We will briefly review the key differences between simulation and emulation.
Then, we will take a deep dive into different kinds of solutions, from atomic testing to fully automated simulation/emulation campaigns. Indeed, we will explore how to use and leverage Atomic Red Team (ART), Cyber Adversary Language and Detection Engine for Red team (Caldera), Picus Security, and VECTR. These represent a snippet of all the solutions that exist out there, but they should give a good understanding of the different types and approaches chosen by developers and security companies.
We will finish the chapter by discussing how...
