Integrating App-V with VDI
As we've seen already, VDI is not a simple server we can just install in our organization to evaluate; this technology requires deep analysis before jumping into a decision to try it. Careful analysis is to be done when we decide to implement it, in order to smoothly complement our existing infrastructure.
If we have already implemented App-V 4.6 successfully in our organization, and we are evaluating VDI and its integration, the most important benefit we can take is the shared cache feature.
Shared cache and its benefits
As we already know, even when we are working with streaming servers (App-V Management Server, Streaming Server, or SCCM), the App-V client does not stream the application every time a user tries to access it; the actual streaming occurs with the App-V cache located in the client machine.
If we are using RTSP as a native protocol, the App-V client looks for an updated version of the application, and if there isn't any, the client works with the cached...
