The magical Clear All Formatting button
Perhaps the simplest way of all to fix nearly any formatting issue in Word is to use the magical Clear All Formatting button. It's not really magical; it just seems that way because of how fast it works and how many problems it can solve.
You can find the Clear All Formatting button within the Home tab on the Ribbon:
The Clear All Formatting button is the A letter with a little purple eraser next to it. Just select the text that is giving you trouble and click on the button. It really is that easy.
In Figure 12.42, you will see an example of some very unusual-looking text. Rather than try to figure out what is going on, let's just reset this text back to the Normal style and clear any additional formatting that has been applied on top—all with the click of a button
