The interests of the organization


What are the interests of the organization? They vary somewhat according to the nature of the organization: a hospital's idea of what it's about is different from that of a regular for-profit business, for example. But regardless of the nature of your organization, it has, broadly speaking, two objectives:

  • To get the work done when it needs to be done, and to meet the needs of its clients

  • To maximize the value it gets for its expenditures, and to minimize those expenditures

While your organization has no choice but to temper its zeal in achieving these objectives due to the countervailing fact that employees who are treated like objects are unlikely to contribute much or to hang around for long, these objectives remain its guiding principles.

Differences between organizations

As suggested above, the way in which a given organization will pursue these objectives will vary according to the type of organization and the nature of the specific institution in question...
