Animating the camera's focus

Creating a movie in Lumion is a straightforward task, but if we stop at the basics, the result we get is nothing particularly amazing and dazzling. It is when we start adding different elements to the equation that our animation starts to grow in quality. Some of the previous recipes in this chapter covered how to create a camera path and how to improve the camera control while recording the shot. Now it is time to start complementing those recipes with some effects. Let's see how we can add a focus effect to our camera.

Getting ready

For this recipe, we just need a very simple camera path where the camera zooms in, focuses at some object in the scene, and then moves away performing a zoom out.

How to do it…

Let's start by adding a Depth of Field effect to the clip by performing the following steps:

  1. From the Movie mode, select a clip and click on the New effect button.
