Introduction to robotics
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of robotics or robots? For many people, it is a machine that imitates the human-like Wall-E, but such robots still inhabit science fiction. People still aren't able to give robots enough intelligence, or what we commonly refer to as common sense, to reliably interact with the dynamic world. So, what exactly is a robot? This is a system that contains sensors, control systems, manipulators, power supplies, and software all working together to perform a task.

Robotics is a branch of physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, mathematics, and computing that deals with the designing, building, programming, and testing of robots. Robot in Czech is a word for worker or servant. The word robot was coined by a Czech novelist Karel Capek in a 1920 play titled Rassum's Universal Robots...
