Summary
In this chapter, we have learned the concepts of business continuity and disaster recovery planning that encompass two separate but related disciplines:
- Business continuity planning: Ensures that organizations effectively understand what business processes and information are important to them and what is required to ensure continued operations and success of the organization
- Disaster recovery planning: Develop the technical solutions that support the business needs of the organization in the event of a system outage
We also learned:
- What the scope and focus areas are of the BCDR plan
- How to design, implement, test, and maintain a BCDR plan
In the next chapter, we will be discussing the concepts around incident response planning and how your organization should prepare for detecting and responding to an intrusion attempt by an attacker.
