Sales orders

A sales order is a document in SAP CRM that is created for the customer. It shows the customer's interest in buying goods from an organization with a requested sale date specified by the customer. Sales orders are used to track and determine the revenue of a company. You can create sales orders irrespective of sales contracts and quotations, or you can create a sales order that refers to sales contracts or quotations to apply a special price.

Figure 7.20 shows the different places where sales orders can be created in SAP:

These sources are Interaction Center, handheld devices, internet sales, SAP CRM, EDI, and SAP ECC.

The following diagram shows the Quote to Cash process; it states every step, from starting with a quote and converting it to order to finally billing the customer:
