Understanding how Faces Heal
SketchUp will help you heal your model! Faces in SketchUp can be created automatically, even when using tools that do not seem to generate Faces. The Line tool can even be used to help heal your SketchUp models when Faces seem to be missing! Let’s explore how some of these tools can be used to generate Faces.
Creating Faces by Drawing Edges
Faces are generated whenever a flat, closed shape is created. This is automatically done whenever using the Rectangle, Rotated Rectangle, Circle, Polygon, and Pie tools. Additionally, Faces can be created when using the Push/Pull and Follow Me tools, but this is a slightly different process. We will discuss the Edit tools in the next chapter.
It is important to see that there is no “3D Face Tool,” “Mesh Tool,” or any other tool that creates independent Faces in SketchUp Pro. There may be plugins or extensions in the SketchUp universe, but these tools are not included in SketchUp...
