Hiding areas of an image with an alpha channel
In the Wrapping text around objects in an image recipe, we looked at how to add alpha channels to an image in Photoshop, then use them back over in InDesign to wrap text around that area of the image. Sometimes, though, you might just want to hide that whole area of the image and not have it appear in InDesign.
In this recipe, we will look at how to create an alpha channel within an image in Photoshop. Then, back over in InDesign, we will use that alpha channel to hide that part of the image.
Getting ready
To complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system and create a new document with 12 pages, as shown in the Creating a new document recipe in Chapter 1. You should also be comfortable adding images to your document, as shown in the Placing images in InDesign recipe in Chapter 5.
