Adding API to Kong
Kong provides an intuitive REST API to add a custom API to the gateway. In order to add the aformentioned healthcheck API, we need to make a POST
request to the Kong admin API, which runs on port 8001
. From now on we use the Postman REST client to show all API requests. These API requests are also available as a JSON file collection in the chapter's repository for readers to download and import in their Postman clients respectively. Make a POST
request from Postman to the Kong admin URL http://localhost:8001/apis
with these fields in the JSON body:
