Inbound operations

In previous chapters, we reviewed that inbound operations refer to all processes where we enter inventory into our warehouse. Let’s work with an example. Imagine that we need to create a receive purchase order for a pallet of running shoes. We want to make sure that the purchase order will be processed in the following way:

  1. The stock arrives at the warehouse. A warehouse worker receives it in the app by entering the purchase order number and scanning the item’s barcode. Then, the pallet is stored in a temporary receiving location.
  2. A barcode for the LP is printed and given to the received pallet.
  3. Another warehouse worker scans the barcode and executes the put-away work, storing the item in a bulk location if it’s a full pallet or in a fixed product location if it’s not a full pallet.
