Setting up our warehouse and inventory configurations

It’s time to set up our warehouse. But first, let’s break down the inventory structure. If we were to go to any warehouse, we would see that boxes and materials are stored in large and tall racks, and every location is named. This division and segmentation of the warehouse is called inventory breakdown. In Dynamics 365 SCM provides the ability to organize inventory based on site, warehouse, and location; let’s review how to set them up in Dynamics.

Sites

Sites are storage locations and can be linked to a financial dimension in the general ledger. This means that a site is the main way of organizing inventory costs. SCM in Dynamics 365 creates at least one site, and all inventory transactions refer to a site.

However, depending on the company’s logistics or business process, creating more than one site may be better. There are several cases where having two or more sites would be ideal. For example...
