Typing and formatting text in InDesign

We can now turn our attention to the typographic elements of our design. Type can be dealt with in two ways in InDesign. The first option is where you draw a text frame and type directly into it. The second option is where text is imported into InDesign from a secondary source. We’ll explore both in the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Page 1 by double-clicking the page on the Pages panel. Choose the Type tool T). Click in the frame at the top of the page. You’ll recall that we created this earlier in the chapter. The frame is automatically transformed into a text frame. You’ll know you’ve done this correctly when the blue X icon running across the frame disappears.
  2. Enable the Caps Lock key on your keyboard, and type SUPERCARS. The text by default is black and 12 pt – virtually impossible to read. With the Type tool still active in the frame, choose Select All from the Edit menu. The text we just typed...
