What is content management?
Content management has transformed throughout the decades. In the 80s, pioneers of digital transformation developed the ability to centrally store digitized content and made it easily accessible. The digital content was stored on a fixed magnetic disc, such as Magnetic Storage and Retrieval (MSAR), or an optical disc, such as Optical Storage and Retrieval (OSAR). The largest capacity hard drive at the time was the IBM 3380 1.26 GB drive, with the cheapest version costing approximately $80,000 and weighing 550 lbs. Enterprise storage was still in its infancy at that time. So, large-scale storage appliances were pretty much non-existent.
