Now that you have installed the Hyper-V role, it is time to create a virtual machine. When you create a virtual machine, its configuration settings are stored in a virtual machine configuration (.vmc) file in XML format. A VM also uses one or more virtual disks, which are .vhd or .vhdx files, and a .vsv file that contains a VM's saved state, if you saved a VM instead of shutting it down.

Creating a VM
To create a VM in Hyper-V manager, perform the following steps:
- Open Hyper-V Manager:

- In the Console Tree (in the pane on the left), select the server you want to manage and create a virtual machine on.
