A Utopic Perfect IT System
Remember the joke in Chapter 4 about the perfect information system being formed by a computer, a human, and a dog? There was some truth in this because humans change all the time (their minds, their way of doing, the rules they follow in business, what they want to buy, and so on), while computers are happy with repeating, stable, well-defined tasks. Of course, the two do not mix well, hence the presence of the dog to prevent the human from making a mess of the computer work.
But who created the computer first? Human, of course. So, the joke was not about the fact that humans should not touch computers at all, but rather create them and then let them do the work without changing anything afterward. Of course, this would only be possible if the first attempt was, through some kind of a miracle, perfect.
In this chapter, we will cover the following topics:
- The concept of an ideal system
- Data management in the ideal system
- Rules management...
