Many times in web applications, there is a need to have dynamic content rendered as well as static content. Typically, the dynamic content supplied to the caller is structured and includes dynamic data. Templates provide the developer with the option to lay out the structure of the response, as well as include syntax to allow for dynamic data. A template in our context is a file that has a preset format which is used as a starting point for a response to a user.
