SASE is made up of many different services across multiple technical disciplines or product families. SASE is foundational in its approach to security and may encompass several security services. Secure communications require a service to forward traffic to their destination and, therefore, most solutions require a Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), but some may be performed across legacy routed environments. An SD-WAN greatly reduces complexity in compliance across the solution, as well as creating a simple policy enforcement integrated services solution.
