Understanding Business Security Profiles


Business Security Profiles are a set of rules and restrictions related to the Business layer in our Universe. The main focus of these types of profiles is to restrict or grant access to folders and objects inside the Business layer to the right users. There are three main categories of security rules inside this security profile type:

  • Create Query

  • Display Data

  • Filters

Let's learn about each of these types one by one in the upcoming sections.

Create Query

In the Create Query view, we can restrict the objects that end users can use in the query editor while building the report query. We can grant or deny access to:

  • Business layer views

  • Folders and business objects in the Business layer

The end user will be able to see and use only the granted objects and Business layer views, while he/she will not be able to see or access the denied ones.
