Understanding IoT
You must be thinking – Dale, Internet of Things, is it that big of a deal? I mean, isn't it just mostly in homes? Well, it's in more places than you might think. What we're starting to see, and why it's such an issue for us, is that we're seeing it in things such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The famous Target breach was all handled through an HVAC system. We're seeing it in fire and safety systems, lighting, and transport, and this could include office buildings, retail locations, education, hospitality, airports, and even stadiums.
We're seeing it emerge in the energy sector, such as windmills or turbines, batteries, generators, drills, and other energy-related machines that may be used to switch off electricity or slow it down. We also see it within the consumer and home sector. It just surprises me every day when I see a new device or appliance that has internet access. Again, whether...
