The Cisco IOS File System allows you to work with files and directories just like you would have done back in the day of DOS, or should I say MSDOS. The following table gives the commands and a brief description of each command:

As in Windows or DOS, this will give you a list of directories that exist. |
copy |
The copies your run, start, flash even used to upgrade. Just make sure to be careful what you're copying into your router. |
more |
As with Unix, this will let you look at a text file on a card. |
show file |
This command will give you more detailed information on your file or file systems. |
delete |
Avoid this command; it has a level 15 privilege, and you could accidentally delete your IOS or configurations—OUCH!! |
erase/format |
