CloudWatch overview

Monitoring is important for several reasons that range from both the operational side to the business side. First, it gives you visibility into not only what is running in your environment but how the resources in your environment are performing. Second, monitoring matters from an operational level when you are trying to troubleshoot issues in real time. From a business perspective, monitoring lets you know things such as whether your deployments have been completed successfully, and whether your customers don't see any adverse effects.

In today's world, where information can be dispersed quickly throughout the internet and especially social media channels, anything that affects customer experience can and usually does spread quickly.
