Proximity Analysis
One of the powers of GIS over other information systems is its ability to analyze data from a spatial perspective – for example, being able to determine how far something is from something else. ArcGIS Pro can perform some amazing spatial analysis. These capabilities are generally broken down into four categories: overlay, proximity, network, and statistical. These can be further specialized as well.
In this chapter, we’ll focus on proximity analysis in ArcGIS Pro. Proximity analysis simply involves determining how far or close features are from one another. This could be as simple as selecting features that are within a specified distance from other features, or as complex as calculating the distances between features in one or more layers.
