VM Storage Policies will allow an administrator to group datastores under policies based on the datastore's capability. These capabilities can be related to capacity, performance, or redundancy characteristics. The capabilities can either be learned via VASA if the storage array supports the API, or via user-defined capability tags.
For example, if you have categorized your storage into different tiers based on their performance characteristics, then you can create VM storage policies for easier decision-making when creating or migrating VMs.
In this recipe, we will learn how to create VM storage policies using the user-defined vCenter tag-based storage capabilities.
