Removing chroma key background spill using the Despill Resolve FX Color plugin

The Resolve FX Color: Despill plugin is useful for removing despill from clips that have been chroma-keyed using chroma keyers that do not have a built-in despill function. The Despill plugin is also useful if you have been given a clip that has already been chroma-keyed but still has colored light spilling onto the subject from the original green screen or blue screen background that has already been removed.

For our clip, we will use the Despill plugin to remove the green spill that the HSL Keyer could not remove.

Applying the Despill plugin

Just as with the 3D Keyer, you can apply the Despill plugin on either the Cut or Edit page.

After locating the Despill plugin in Effects > Video > Resolve FX Color > Despill, you can apply the Despill plugin using any of the same methods described for the other keyers.
