The Effects panel

The Effects panel in Affinity Designer offers a host of fun options and features when you're ready to experiment or add a bit more control over the appearance of objects and elements in your projects. The Effects panel lets you add blurs, shadows, glows, outlines, 3D, bevel, and emboss effects, as well as color and gradient overlay effects to your work. It's amazing how handy some of these effects can be when you need to add that special something to an object or element. Let's explore what this panel can offer; see Figure 5.12 for an idea of what type of effects are available:

The Effects panel, as shown by the examples in Figure 5.12, can offer you a ton of options for adding effects to your objects. There are too many to mention all of them here but here are some descriptions:

  • Gaussian Blur adds a blur to the object. The amount of softness of the blur is adjustable...
