Defining roles and responsibilities
SAFe installs three sets of roles and responsibilities across the various SAFe configurations. The Essential SAFe configuration is unique in that there are two sets of identified roles and responsibilities. One groups operations at the small Agile team level, while the other operates at the product level.
Essential SAFe introduces the minimum number of roles and responsibilities required to implement SAFe within an organization. These roles include Agile teams, PO, Scrum Master, RTE, system architects/engineering, product management, and business owners. You will learn the roles and responsibilities in the next subsection.
The Essential SAFe configuration implements its seven roles conceptually across three levels. Three roles span the Agile team level, three other roles support the ART level, and Business Owner informs the other groups regarding the scope and priorities of the product or solution under development.
