Wireless signals intelligence
Wireless Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) is a common technique used by ethical hackers, penetration testers, and red teamers to intercept and analyze wireless traffic to discover and exploit security vulnerabilities found in both radio and wireless transmissions. SIGINT is typically used in military operations by governments to monitor the communication channels of other countries and identify potential threats. However, using various tools and techniques, cybersecurity professionals can employ SIGINT to identify their target’s wireless network infrastructure (such as access points and associated clients), intercept and monitor Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) frames, which can then be used to retrieve passphrases for accessing the network, and locate devices within a vicinity.
