Professional tips, tricks, and important points
When it comes to selection, I need you to understand that you are trying to solve a problem, and each problem requires a different tool. Do not get so wrapped up in the process of selection that you end up burning yourself out. Find the right tool and the right workflow and move forward. The following are some of my most important tips and lessons after years of working as an editor:
- Do not assume the program knows the object you are selecting. While artificial intelligence has come a long way, it still cannot tell whether you intended to include or exclude that piece of leaf, so think like the program.
- Brush size is the most important variable in getting a good selection with Selection Brush. A good initial selection makes refinement easier.
- Increase the dynamics between objects, tones, or colors using adjustment layers to help selection; also, changing blend modes sometimes helps.
