Summary
Using best practices and maintaining consistency in your architectural artifacts is very important to gaining and maintaining trust in your enterprise architecture practice. Consistency breeds familiarity, and with familiarity comes trust. We have learned how to interpret standard metamodels and how to build our own focused metamodel. From this point forward, when we need to describe another application component in a diagram, we will use a focused metamodel to guide us in knowing which elements can be placed on the diagram and which types of relationships can be defined.
As we introduce you to new artifacts and component types in this book, we will accompany that new information with a new focused metamodel. More metamodels will help us to describe more elements of the enterprise in useful diagrams.
