Deep Learning solutions from Kaggle Masters and Google Developer Experts
Get to grips with the fundamentals including variables, matrices, and data sources
Learn advanced techniques to make your algorithms faster and more accurate
Description
The independent recipes in Machine Learning Using TensorFlow Cookbook will teach you how to perform complex data computations and gain valuable insights into your data. Dive into recipes on training models, model evaluation, sentiment analysis, regression analysis, artificial neural networks, and deep learning - each using Google’s machine learning library, TensorFlow.
This cookbook covers the fundamentals of the TensorFlow library, including variables, matrices, and various data sources. You’ll discover real-world implementations of Keras and TensorFlow and learn how to use estimators to train linear models and boosted trees, both for classification and regression.
Explore the practical applications of a variety of deep learning architectures, such as recurrent neural networks and Transformers, and see how they can be used to solve computer vision and natural language processing (NLP) problems.
With the help of this book, you will be proficient in using TensorFlow, understand deep learning from the basics, and be able to implement machine learning algorithms in real-world scenarios.
Who is this book for?
If you are a data scientist or a machine learning engineer, and you want to skip detailed theoretical explanations in favor of building production-ready machine learning models using TensorFlow, this book is for you.
Basic familiarity with Python, linear algebra, statistics, and machine learning is necessary to make the most out of this book.
What you will learn
Take TensorFlow into production
Implement and fine-tune Transformer models for various NLP tasks
Apply reinforcement learning algorithms using the TF-Agents framework
Understand linear regression techniques and use Estimators to train linear models
Execute neural networks and improve predictions on tabular data
Master convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks through practical recipes
This book goes quite fast and covers how to write your layers with TF and Keras. The explanations are quite crisp and short, so anyone without any prior knowledge of the terms and knowledge of DL (i.e. optimizers etc.) might get lost. The code is brilliant, have spotted a few typos, but still quite an amazing read.I would definitely recommend it, probably a very good book to use along side is 'Hands on Machine learning' by Geron for all the deeper explanation if you feel like it.

"Getting Ready! How to do it...! How it works...!" is the structure of the recipes in the book and it works for me. The explanations are short and straight to the point, I personally love when a learning book is concise. Plenty of resource suggestions if deep dive is necessary or brushing up on certain knowledge, e.g. Matrix Computations. I would suggest, download the code from GitHub and use Google Colab with the book. I read the book from my iPad and code on my laptop, it's perfect for me this way. When reading the book it provided me a good reference and framework how to setup, design and use TensorFlow. I usually use the Keras Interface, beyond that, it seems all a bit 'difficult', but this book gives me the confidence that directly using TF is now an option when it's needed.

The book is an extraordinary asset for those keen on applying complex data computations using TensorFlow. It is somewhat light on detailed theoretical explanations but provides resourceful insights for building production-ready modules in real-world scenarios. I would recommend it if you are either already familiar with basic ML theory and the math background or if you have a software engineering background and are simply looking to implement an ML solution with Tensorflow.

The book title says it all. It’s a cookbook. It has 60+ TensorFlow recipes for Machine Learning problems. The code blocks are neat, well-written and highly structured. Why shouldn’t they be? These were written by coders who were well-recognized top-level experts in the field. The code covered all major areas of machine learning - starting from linear and logistic regression to all the way up to CNN, RNN and even Reinforcement Learning. That means, if you know how these algorithms work, what functions to call and when, this is an excellent book for you. For each of these concepts, you’ll get some basic sets of code handy. Whenever you need, do some copy-paste and customize. And you are ready with the first cut of a quick solution. Here the authors' assumption is, you already have a good knowledge of the Machine Learning functions. And there lies the biggest challenge. How many ML enthusiasts or budding data scientists understand the need of hyperparameter tuning, type of loss functions or the effects of backpropagation? All these topics were covered in chapter-1 of the book with just a few lines of introduction. But these concepts are so deep that they require a much larger discussion even for basic understanding. Of course, one extremely helpful thing the authors did was to include a “See also” section at the end of each chapter. It includes links to introductory notes or detailed discussions on relevant topics. That’s a great help for novices as well as experts. But this book itself could have been highly attractive to a much broader audience if the authors had explained the core concepts in more detail before each chapter. Thus it would have been a real winner across a wide spectrum of ML practitioners. But again, it’s a cookbook that is supposed to give recipes, not to elaborate concepts such as how ensemble or random forest algorithm works. I agree, the authors’ scope was limited. Still Machine Learning being a new and rapidly growing field, each algorithm deserves clear explanations on questions such as what problem it addresses, what advantage it provides and what constraints it has before showing the code to implement it. Discussions like these could broaden the reader base significantly.By the way, don’t get disheartened by the book title “Machine Learning Using TensorFlow Cookbook”. When I saw the name first, I wondered - “does anybody still use TensorFlow?”. Impossible, everybody I know uses TensorFlow v2.x and book titles with “v2.x” are common in the marketplace today. But once I started reading, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the authors did a diligent work of using v2.2.0 code throughout. Anywhere there was an exception, they said it clearly how the syntax and execution differed from v2.0 and v2.1. Their attention to detail was really praiseworthy.Overall, the cookbook provided a useful set of recipes to an upcoming ML chef like me. So I recommend it with full enthusiasm

What is custom duty/charge?
Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.
Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?
The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.
A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.
How do I know my custom duty charges?
The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.
For example:
If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.
