This version comes with a number of improvements that enable fast, TDD-friendly development to create sophisticated applications. You would also learn the fundamentals of Entity framework and on how to use the same in ASP.NET Core web applications. The book presents the fundamentals and philosophies of ASP.NET Core. Starting with an overview of the MVC pattern, we quickly dive into the aspects that you need to know to get started with ASP.NET. You will learn about the core architecture of model, view, and control. Integrating your application with Bootstrap, validating user input, interacting with databases, and deploying your application are some of the things that you will be able to execute with this fast-paced guide. Disappointed. My environment is Windows 10, with Visual Studio 2017, and to say the least this book doesn't play well with the new Visual Studio. Thought that this may happen, but this book was released last year - so they should have known that Visual Studio 2017 was in the works. Also the available source wasn't updated for Visual Studio 2017, so things won't initially compile correctly. The writing style leaves a lot to be desired. The author skips important steps, so if your trying to follow along, good luck. This is as much the editor's fault as it is the author's. Appreciate what the author is trying to accomplish, but unfortunately this book misses the mark because you really can't build his examples with out some work. Fortunately, I have programmed ASP .net before, but it's been about ten years. Wanted to get backup to speed on the latest.Bottom line, if your looking for a book that will quickly and easily get you up to speed on .NET, this isn't the book.

Waste of time. The book concentrates on ASP.NET MVC 5 for the most part and this was only ever a beta format before being taken out of existence in August 2016 to make way for the all new ASP.NET Core. Visual Studio will not even recognise the file types/constructs used in the downloads available for the book (yes I tried just on the off chance). The book was first published in November 2016 so was out of date even before it was published!Would I recommend this book? No! I would recommend that you don't purchase this book as it will be a waste of time and money.
