Configuring Azure Site Recovery networking
The hard and fast rule of any virtual machine in Azure is that the VM must have at least one network interface attached to it (called the primary network interface) and can contain multiple network interfaces as the OS and VM size supports (called secondary network interfaces). Depending on the network design, multiple networks might be configured for different workloads and security requirements. It is imperative to know that when failing over or migrating virtual machines to Azure from an on-premises environment, all network interfaces in the same VM must be connected to the same virtual network, which will require design and planning.
The great news is that the network interface settings can be flexibly modified under the replication settings for the virtual machine, to accommodate network mapping and network interface settings for both failover and test failover settings, as shown in Figure 11.2:
