The vote is in – introverts make natural public speakers
About seven years into my computer career I was promoted on a Friday from top salesperson to sales manager that next Monday. It was only then I was given the opportunity to learn about being an introvert, and all the surrounding misconceptions. Discovery was part of the management training offered about half a year later when taking the MBTI®, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, assessed me as an INTJ: introvert, intuitive, thinker, and judger.
In going from presenting to potential customers to leading staff from administration to technicians to salespeople, presentations still play a part.
Are you anything like me? For years, it was my understanding that as an introvert, we are to fear and be poor with public speaking.
My advantage, which I hope to make yours as well, is that public speaking is nothing for us to fear, and that we can be exceptional at it in spite of being more introverted.
