BYOD concepts

BYOD, or bring-your-own-device, is the idea of allowing employees to bring their personal devices, such as tablets, laptops, and netbooks, to work and use them on the corporate network. On the employee's side of this concept, it's awesome. On the corporate side, it creates a bit of a challenge in terms of ensuring that a healthy security posture is maintained at all times and the organization's assets, such as the employees, equipment/devices, and data, are safe from threats.

To further expand on the challenge the organization faces, we'll use an analogy to describe how a single user device can compromise an entire organization's network:
