Rail Design Capabilities within Autodesk Civil 3D 2025

In the previous chapter, we reviewed and learned a few ways in which we can elevate our Model Management game as it relates to applying advanced design techniques and further analyzing our corridor and utility networks for both gravity and pressurized networks. In this chapter, we will take all our knowledge of developing roadway alignments, profiles, assemblies, and corridors and morph them slightly for a different type of design.

We’ll begin to understand how we can continue building on our foundational knowledge of Civil 3D tools and workflows to develop a rail design. Since our initial site doesn’t necessarily need to account for a rail design, we’ll use a different dataset for this chapter to get more of a real-world scenario-type understanding in which we can utilize rail design tools and workflows. In this chapter, we’ll cover the following topics:
