Understanding phishing detection with a practical example
Phishing detection involves a multi-faceted approach that combines various techniques and tools to effectively identify and mitigate phishing attempts. Continuous advancements in technology, along with user education, are essential to keep up with the evolving tactics used by phishers. Examples of phishing detection tools and services include Google Safe Browsing, Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection: PhishTank, and Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG). These tools and services analyze and share phishing attack data to help in detection and prevention service that warns users and administrators about unsafe websites, offer email filtering and URL analysis to detect phishing attempts, and report phishing URLs to public databases.
