We have already covered Spotfire Data Streams in Chapter 10, Information Links and Data Connectors. Spotfire Data Streams and StreamBase are essentially the same product. Spotfire Data Streams is specifically targeted for use with Spotfire for showing streaming (live) data in Spotfire. The combination of StreamBase and TERR is particularly powerful—since TERR is designed for low-latency and high-performance model scoring, in many cases, a TERR model can be executed on every data tuple flowing through a StreamBase workflow. That model could score transactions flowing through financial systems to evaluate the risk of fraud, or it could react to equipment sensor readings to predict the likelihood of imminent failure of the equipment. There are many other use cases, but they are too numerous to mention here!
