Improving business agility on an enterprise scale
We live in an era that is defined by the digital economy. The term Digital Economy is most often ascribed to Don Tapscott's 1995 best-seller The Digital Economy: Promise and Peril in the Age of Networked Intelligence. In his book, Tapscott talks about a new economy where the age of networked intelligence is a digital economy.
We often think of the digital economy as conducting e-commerce via the internet and the World Wide Web. However, it's bigger than that. For example, the average automobile has more computer power than the systems NASA used to guide and sustain living conditions within the Apollo spacecraft and Space Shuttles. Think how much more advanced the AI-based autonomous vehicles currently under development are. In other words, our digital economy is also driven by the computing power and systems employed directly within our modern products.
