Summary
“A complex craft that often blends art, animation, graphic design, and visual effects with game design itself.”
That’s how we described UI and UX design in the introduction to this chapter. A few dozen pages later, we’ve hopefully provided you with a strong introduction to the concepts of input methods, cameras, perspectives, and utilizing feedback, all in a bid to reinforce your gameplay and craft a game that’s immersive, responsive, understandable, and delightful to interact with.
We strongly encourage you to deconstruct existing games, analyze their feedback mechanics, and even recreate their UIs in the form of digital mockups. As with any blend of art and craft, practice makes perfect!
Next up, we’ll naturally extend the concepts of this chapter and apply our user-oriented mindset toward making your games more accessible.
