To get the most out of this book

You need to have AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT installed in order to follow the book. This book is made with the Windows operating system version of AutoCAD in mind. If you are using AutoCAD on Mac, then you will find a different user interface.

Conventions used

There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.

CodeInText: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: "To use this tool, click on its icon or use its command alias, LAYISO."

Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For example, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in the text like this. Here is an example: "Open a blank drawing and start the Line command by clicking on the Line tool in the Draw panel."
