Chapter 3: NAS Backup
Network-Attached Storage (NAS) is storage attached to your network in various forms, such as Windows SMB, CIFS, NFS, and FreeNAS, and provides a location for users to store data. A NAS can be set up in many different ways and allows faster data access, easier administration, and simple configuration over general-purpose file servers. This chapter discusses what NAS is and the most efficient way to back it up using Veeam Backup & Replication. We will discuss setting up NAS backup shares as well as setting up a NAS backup job. We will also discuss the components that Veeam Backup & Replication uses for the backup process. By the end of the chapter, you will have a better understanding of NAS backups.
In this chapter, we're going to cover the following main topics:
- Understanding NAS backup and what's new in version 10
- Learning how to configure NAS backup shares
- Discovering how to create NAS backup jobs
- Working with NAS backups...
