Compensation and Legal Considerations for the SE

Sales Engineers (SEs) make good money. OK, not Bryce Harper good money, but they make a solid wage and it is certainly earned. There is a good reason why your highest tier SEs make a lot, and that is because a lot is asked of them, coupled with the fact that they have the skill set and drive to accomplish the complex tasks required of them.

Some folks who have pondered entering the industry wonder who really makes more, the Account Executive (AE) or SEs, and of course, that is not a static answer due to all the pay variables as well as final annual performance results that make up the total compensation package for each of these roles.

However, generally speaking, a great AE will make more than a great SE. Go ahead and digest that a bit. It’s OK… I’m going to get a cup of coffee. I’ll wait right here while you finish thinking about it.
