Summary
In this chapter, we combined various techniques that we have learned through the book to create a sheet metal enclosure. The base was made using a Base Flange, Miter Flange, and various cut-outs, Vents, and Formed Tools.
The lid was built from another simple Base Flange, with Edge Flange sides and Hems to make it more user-friendly.
This design drew upon a number of Sheet Metal tools and features, but the range of designs that you can create with the entire suite of SolidWorks Sheet Metal is only limited by your imagination and design requirements.
As with most elements of SolidWorks, the key to mastering Sheet Metal is to practice the techniques wherever possible. Try looking out for sheet metal products in your day-to-day life and then think about how you might model these in SolidWorks.
Sheet Metal is a great addition to the standard SolidWorks set of tools and one that can be used to take your modeling skills to the next level.
