Chargebacks
Once we have set up our PaaS model and made sure that DBaaS provisioning is working fine, it's time to think about how the resource utilization will be accounted for. All the resources we manage using our PaaS needs to be analyzed for their usage and appropriate departments or users need to be charged according to agreed upon SLA and payment terms. Chargebacks allow us to set up an elaborate matrix of usage costs and allow the admins to closely monitor the resource usage. As most PaaS implementations are self-service in nature, it becomes increasingly important and difficult to maintain correct chargebacks as per the resource utilization because there are many different types of provision requests.
Oracle Enterprise Manager lets you create very detailed chargeback mechanisms and offers excellent chargeback reports. You can set up universal as well as create granular extended chargeback plans.
